What does the Kokoda Track look like?

You will see for yourself soon enough, but until then, check out these few photos to give you a taste of what is to come on the track. More photos can be found in the photo gallery and we have some videos of life on the track also. Check out the track which is now visible in Google Maps. See the article about this here.

Kokoda Track on Google Maps

Using Google Maps we have plotted the Kokoda Track so you can follow the entire length from Owers' Corner to Kokoda Station. You will need to zoom in very far and turn on Hybrid mode to see the terrain. Note that the satellite photos vary in image detail and the white areas are cloud not snow.
Hints and Tips
  • Look for the "Kokoda Track" thin path indicated on the map. It is only visible when zoomed in.
  • Turn on the Hybrid mode to see the photos of the area and tracks.
  • The white areas on the satellite photos are only clouds. Google have not been able to get clear photos without clouds.
  • The yellow "road" is 100% not present traversing the ranges and simply something Google have put on. We are trying to get it removed so if it is gone, great!

Kokoda Track "Fly Over" Animation

Watch a fly-over of the track using Google Earth from Kokoda to Owers' Corner. The white snow-like areas are clouds only and not snow!! It is very difficult to obtain satellite photos of the Owen Stanley Range without cloud cover.

Kokoda Track profile map
Download a multi-page map that you can use whilst walking the Kokoda Track. It is an elevation profile map and highlights the main locations along the track the expedition will visit or stop at, including camp-sites. If you would like to purchase a poster sized version of the map see the details here.
