In 2012, the Kokoda Track Foundation is Lighting Up The Track by distributing 3,500 solar lights to communities along and around the Track.

No Roads Expeditions is proud to be funding the distribution of 250 solar lights to the Kagi community. The majority of our wonderful No Roads porters live in Kagi with their families who will directly benefit from these solar powered lights.
In 2012, the Kokoda Track Foundation is embarking on an exciting initiative - Lighting Up The Track. This project involves delivering an individual solar light to every adult living along the Kokoda Track.

Solar lighting projects across the developing world have been shown to have numerous benefits for families and communities including alleviating poverty, promoting health benefits, preventing fire hazards, and enabling educational opportunities. Partnering with Flexiway Solar Solutions, the Foundation will deliver 3,500 solar lights to communities along the Kokoda Track and in the catchment area.

These individual lights have the ability to click together so that families can come together at night and share meals and participate in community meetings - under a panel of solar bright enough to light a community hall or school classroom!
